I made a "moon lamp" that shows the current moon phase and more

Many years ago I bought a moon shaped lamp that had an IR remote that let you set the phase of the moon. I always thought it would be fun to take it apart and control it with a raspberry pi instead so it could show the current moon phase automatically. My idea has since evolved and now it not only shows the current moon phase but also the current temperature, cloud cover, and probability of rain/snow in the next two hours.

To do that I took the originally moon lamp apart and replaced the LEDs with addressable color LEDs. The lamp cycles between "screens" showing the different pieces of information utilizing the number of segments lit up and the color (and sometimes the brightness).

You can see more in my incomplete readme here (I haven’t filled in the set-up part yet…).
